Getting started with Omply — from downloading the app to your first appointment
In short: This guide takes you all the way from never having used Omply to sitting in your first remote doctor's appointment. Five steps: get the app, log in, add your payment details, (optionally) connect your measurement devices, and start a visit. It takes about 10 minutes.
New to Omply? Omply is an app that gives you a real doctor's appointment from home — not just a chat. You connect with an independent, licensed Finnish doctor by video, and with Omply's home measurement devices the doctor can listen to your heart and lungs, and check your temperature, blood pressure, and blood-oxygen level, much like a visit at the clinic. Omply connects you with the doctor and handles the app and the payment; the doctor provides the care.
NOTE — not for emergencies. Do not use Omply in an emergency or a life-threatening situation. Call 112 or go to your nearest emergency room.
Step 1 — Get the Omply app
Omply works on a phone or tablet (iOS and Android). The app is called Omply Health.
The easiest way is to open the official download page and tap your store:
Or go straight to your store:
- iPhone / iPad: Omply Health on the App Store
- Android: Omply Health on Google Play
Make sure your phone's operating system is up to date — Omply needs a supported, updated device.
NOTE: The app is rolling out to the stores gradually. If you can't see Omply Health in your store just yet, check back a little later.
If the app won't download or install, see I can't download the app.
Step 2 — Open the app and log in
Omply uses strong authentication, so your identity is verified securely the first time.
- Open the Omply app and choose Log in.
- Identify yourself with your online banking credentials or mobile certificate (the same strong identification you use elsewhere in Finland).
- Check that your personal details are correct.
No Finnish online-banking credentials? You can still log in — see I don't have Finnish bank credentials, how do I log in?.
Step 3 — Add your payment details
You pay for your appointment in the app, in advance. Adding a card now means you're ready the moment a doctor is available.
- Go to payment information in the app.
- Add your card.
Your payment covers the doctor's fee plus Omply's app/platform fee. If you're eligible for a Kela reimbursement, the doctor deducts it from the price and you pay only your own share (omavastuu).

Step 4 — (Optional) Connect your measurement devices
If you have Omply's measurement devices (e.g. thermometer, pulse oximeter, blood-pressure monitor, digital stethoscope), pair them now so the doctor can use them during your visit. You can also have an appointment without devices.
- Turn on Bluetooth — see Does the phone need to have Bluetooth turned on?
- Using the devices correctly: How do I use the devices safely and correctly?
Step 5 — Start a visit and meet the doctor
When you're ready for an appointment:
- Select the type and length of the visit.
- Choose your symptoms, the medical specialty, or the topic you need help with.
- (Optional) Take preliminary measurements with your devices.
- Join the queue.
- You'll be offered an appointment with a doctor. You have about 30 seconds to accept.
- When you accept, the payment is charged and the appointment begins immediately — you're now in your video consultation with the doctor.
During the appointment the doctor may ask you to take measurements with your devices, and will give you advice, a treatment plan, or a prescription as needed. The doctor records your visit in the national patient data system (Kanta) afterwards.
If the appointment won't start or you can't get in, see My appointment is not working.
That's it — you're set
You now have the app, you're logged in, your payment is ready, and you know how to start a visit. Next time you need a doctor, open Omply and jump straight to Step 5.
